    Default Mustang GT or Pontiac Trans am

    lookin for something different. Which one should i get along with reasons why.
    handling, gas mileage, reliability etc.
    I personally like the looks of the mustang
    oh and im comparing the ws6 and the 1999 and up mustang

    Either is good. If you want to stay stock, get the WS6. If you want to do a lot of mods, get a Mustang.

    ws6 owns the GT in every way besides the Solid rear end that the trans am has. Have you sat in a mustang? The quality is on par with crap.

    240!! drop an SR into the 240 and it will be ALOT more fun and and can make it faster then both of those

    Every Mustang with the exception of a Cobra has an 8.8" in it, which holds up better than the 10 bolt on in an F body. And for the quality thing, I have to disagree, all the Mustangs I've had seemed to be built alot better than my F Body. Esspecially the interior, the Camaro/Trans Am interior seems to be lacking to be...


    That being said, I'd go with a 98+ WS6, simply because of the power difference. The LS1 is an extremely strong motor stock, and makes good power with just bolt on's. Not to mention when it comes to modding it is slightly cheaper than a 96+ Mustang. The aftermarket is huge, and the ability to make big power is there.

    Maybe not the handling, but the reliabilty is there as well as OK gas mileage. its better then the S2000, 23mpg...

    My brother has a 99 Bird with almost 300,000 miles with NO problems.

    And, he rags the crap outta it too.

    As opposed to popular belief, you can make a Camaro and Mustang handle well. Tony Bolton auto x's a 2001 GT and does GREAT with it, they dont handle as horrible as everyone lets on even stock.

    As for gas mileage, I get 20mpg in my H/C/I 94 Camaro, and the LS1 cars get even better mileage. As well as my 2003 Mach 1 got around 18mpg.

    LS1 cars, as well as your 4.6 cars are also very reliable. It's not uncommon to see 200,000 miles on these cars. I've beat on my Mustangs and F bodies daily and have yet to have a really serious issue with either.

    I guess gas mileage is a subjective opinion. I get 33 around town in my integra, it handles like its on rails, and it has almost 200k on it, and its just getting started

    WS6.. They make more power n/a than a mustang gt will and they are lighter i believe. I have a buddie with a cam (+headers) only trans am formula doing 11.9s, stock heads, intake mani, etc... the lsx motors are sick to mod and respond way better than a mustang. Cammed they still are able to get 26mpg! I get 29.5 on my ls6 vette now.

    You havent even seen the sticker of a ws6 have you? Its 18cty 28hwy on a 6 speed.. I manage 29.5 in my 400hp vette, and the ws6 is a 13 second car unlike a 15 sec mustang with worse mpg..

    Ive seen the sticker in all of those cars, including the vette, and all of those numbers are what you get when you pussy foot around in em. I can drive my teg however i want and get the same mileage all day, everyday.

    BTW, i would be PISSED if i got less than 25mpg

    1999 and up? there is the new edge gt's that are from 99-04 and then the s197's from 05 and up. if your comparing the New edge to the ws6 dont even think about the gt. goes with a ws6. looks better, performs better and is just as easy to mod. now if your looking into the s197 GT its a different story. imo the interior on the new ones is 10x better then the new edges. thats one thing that drew me to mine. the ws6 will still out perform a S197 GT but the new mustangs have a HUGE aftermarket. personally i like the styling of the new mustangs over a ws6 but im a little biased lol. you cant go wrong either way.

    Even a 2k in a honda is basically a gsr swap which would probly do low 14s maybe high 13's. It will take more than that to run me down. A turbo kit on a d15? what kinda of "good performance" can u get for a honda with 2k? Nitrous?

    With under 1k in mods to my car i can do mid 11's..

    agreed. i think he is talking about overall cost which is why i cant see a 2k honda outrunning your vette. the thing that gets me is yeah its "cheaper"
    to make a honda fast but shit, im happy running in the 13s with a full interior, AC, Power-steering, power windows, fully adjustable power seats ect...

    Yeh, i do reliable 12's with 29.5mpg.. The grand am in my sig made 322whp/362wtq and ran 12's and got 30mpg but was unreliable as fvck!

    lol damn thats good(vette)! my v6 stang only gets 20c 27hwy. mpg only dropped about 3mpg with the blower tho so im not too mad

    I think it being all fiberglass and aerodynamic helps a bit too.. When i do the cam, headers, ud pulley, tune, etc... i wanna still get 26-27mpg, but 430whp+ i dont think ill mind a little less mpg

    LS1>4.6 Modular - Not even close!

    Interior wise, Mustangs has acres of hard plastic, thought egress and ingress is easier in the Mustang but the driving position in the TA is better.

    Exterior? I like both...Stangs are shorter and TA's are mad long.

    Suspension? WS6, it's upper and lower control arms (better handling, better steering geometry)...Stangs are struts. Both are sold rear axles...gotta move up to cobras to get the irs.

    GTs can't hold a candle to a WS6...gotta move up to the Cobras to even start talking about the same game.

    I've personally pulled car lengths on GTs...not cool.

    I'd say drive both...you might one over another.

    WS6 = fugly. I dont care if it has 600hp, I'm still not driving one.
