Thread: B18c1 w/ a B16a tranny?

    Exclamation B18c1 w/ a B16a tranny?

i still have my old Ls tranny hooked up to my jdm gsr block. time to switch it out. i keep hearing that the Si tranny has shorter gears than the GSR tranny. would this be good idea to slap on a SI tranny to my GSR block. i never heard of a GSR/ Si tranny. im sure there is a reason for that though. thanks and where can i find either tranny need on this month.

I have a gsr with b16 tranny, I drive it daily, you will just have to get used to it. If you drive "normal" you can still get good gas milage with interstate driving. The shorter gears will be better at the track for all motor also.

i'm w/ all others..that b16 will get u out of the hole real quick and u will definitely have an advantage over most. IMO like was said if you are really concerned w/ gas mileage...go w/ a gsr trans, if not...b16 trans

Im not sure what the rpms drop to, i shift at 8500, and i also have a lightened flywheel so i might be a little different for you.

And patrick, they have the same gears but type r has a better final drive and lsd i believe.

GSR w/b16 tranny is a good setup for N/A setups, but if you are doing alot of driving highways .. GL on gas . hahaa, but if your balling it's gravy either way..

with a b16 tranny, shifting at 8200 will bring you back to 6000 rpm. which for the b16 is right above where vtec engages so that it stays in the powerband
