    Default gear ratio for a 96-00 civic HX tranny

    yeah... want to know whats the gear ratios for a HX civic. any clear help would be greatly appreciated

    i cant answer your question but i have a question as well, isnt that the transmission that you can top the car out in 3rd? 2nd goes to 80 or so? ive heard that somewhere?

    i duno... my dx tranny can read 100+ in 3rd gear lol

    ah, well one of my buddies claimed he ran the 1/4 out in 2nd in his eg. he had a z6 with a hx tranny. he said 2nd will go to 89mph. just thought you might know since you were asking. lol

    isn't the hx transmission a cvt?

    Wow the gearing is tall as hell. Except for first it looks like the gear in my Vette lol.

    GEAR RATIOS:

    First 3.461
    Second 1.750
    Third 1.096
    Fourth 0.857
    Fifth 0.710
    Reverse 3.231
    Final Drive Axle Ratio 3.208

    TIRES:
    Tire size: 185/65/R14:
    Sidewall Height = (185*0.65)/25.4=4.73 in
    Diameter=14+(2*4.73)=23.46 in
    Circumference=3.1428*23.46=73.73 in
    Rev per minute (89/60)*859 = 1274
    89mph = 1274 Tire RPM

    Tranny RPM = 1274*3.208 = 4086RPM

    2nd Gear engine RPM = 7150 RPM

    thats because he didnt have enough power SOHC FTL!

    I have the HX tranny in my car! its slow though. But 2nd in mine tops out at 70 and 3rd at 100..... that about tops the car out unless you got about 5 miles of flat road... you can get 120
