Default carbon fiber clear coat question

why do older carbon fiber hoods always need a clearcoat? its like every cf hood has a cheap ass clearcoat on it that dont last very long at all
I asked a girl if i could buy her a drink, she said I have a boyfriend, so I said, well i have a goldfish, she said what? I replied, oh I'm sorry I thought we were talking about shit that doesnt matter.

try to avoid sunlight exposure when you have carbon fiber and try to wax and polish for protection.
