I've heard it increases MPG, but can also slow you down on some motors. 1.8 Miata motor will it increase my MPG and not slow me down? Reps for any help

why would you waste a cat. Go by a straight pipe and sell the cat. Core supply companies will pay you 60 + dollars for a cat

Buy forced induction. Back pressure isnt as big of a deal then

Alright then, I'll leave it on. Just looking for the simple hp gains first. Advancing the timing once gas drops a bit

No cash for turbo right now. Once my other car sells i'll have 400 to put into the car. I'm thinking intake and exaust and header if i can find a cheap one

Lol, very true, by cheap, i mean a used one. Usually not that much of a difference in performance when you talk exaust and header. there are differences in intake though

There can be a lot of difference but honestly what good is the header going to do with out a decent exhaust. Not muffler.

Your best bet with the 400 would be to put a decent suspension upgrade on the car. What good is a 12 sec daily driver if you have to slow down to 60 so make a turn?

That and motor mount. Your going to run into a problem when you have power and no way to transfer it to the ground...

I can have exaust done for 200 or less. I could get shocks and coilovers for 400 maybe, not full suspension

hmm, i'll look into it. Miata's have decent handling to start with. I like straight line speed, but you are right, handling is important

It may free up 5 ponies but at the cost of a 15000% increase in emissions.

I'll pay the 5 ponies, and its too bad not everyone thinks this way.

I can't speak for your cars, I've got a 95 z28. In an LT1, you can pick up more HP by getting rid of the cat.

LT1, stock, with longtubes, off road y pipe, and a tune will see about 30hp. Just by getting rid of the catalytic converter, you can get about 8.

QFT , but look at the size difference in motors here, plus it makes the exhaust sound better IMO.
