I've got one and if its not raining too hard it will be on RA this weekend. It sees at least one track weekend a month. I love it and I'll love it more when the SR20 goes in later this summer.

I'm on my 4th one... No better car to drive everyday and thrash on the track on the weekends. That's a fact.

But yeah, IA slacks off on the bimmer fans,
the BMW for sale thread hasn't been updated....EVER!
90% of the threads there should be locked or deleted, as most of the cars are gone.

It's very alive on Bimmerforums. The Ga. section is epicly huge and active, but they don't cater to some of the behavior on I.A

im with him, i think they are just plane over-engineered.

    i have had 3. a 73 bavaria, a 00 540i m package and a 01 540i m package(both 6 speed)

hate them. everything breaks. between 2 cars i have been thru 6 raditors 3 water pumps, a coolent tank,3 cluths, a p.s. pump, and now recently waiting on a water pump.

which btw is water cooled and is fucking an arm and a leg. and i have been waiting for it for about 3 weeks now.

Wow... E39's are super reliable, quality built but yes the rads are weak. Replace the rad with zionville and you are set.

I have two of them and I'm here. Also on Bf, but I wanted to see what goes on here too.

To the poster with the 540s, that's why I got rid of mine. The V8s can be costly.

You found BMW E39 weak point. Cooling system. Going through 3 clutches sounds like straight abuse.

A water cooled water pump? I can get a water pump from multple places locally in 1 day. Order offline and 10+ sites have them. Almost guaranteed

[/QUOTE/] Thats ridiculous 6 radiators and 3 water pumps.... you must not have been doing something right.. just because you dont understand something it does not mean its over-engineered.

I like the simplicity of mine honestly. Its built to have fun with on a budget, and to make AA fanboys look silly. But i cant complain if i shit an axle. Its a car, things break.
