Default 1998 Nissan Altima GLE, Overheating Issue

Friend has a over heating problem in his Altima. He took it to a Nissan Dealer and found that the fans do not turn on. Thermostat was replaced, Temp Control Valve, etc. They told him that the problem is in the computer. Make any sense?

They then advised him to buy an aftermarket fan and bypass the computer so that the fan turns on at the proper time. Is this possible, if so, How?

I have no clue, this is what he told me.

    Any advice is welcome.

    Thanks in advance

The dealership told him to buy aftermarket? That's odd. On a lighter note your friend can look into the HKS fan temp controller. It will allow for accurate monitoring of the temperature as well as let him control when the fan turns on, etc. Very nice part to have and is easy to install.

Thanks for the reply. What will that part run him? He is not into cars at all and just wants the fans to work, lol.

    Link?
