Time Sert - Big Sert
Anyone have a big sert 10 x 1.25 kit they could let me borrow for some cash?
This happened to me
and I need to repair it asap. Any other suggestions on fixing it would help too, I'm trying to stay away from helicoils and yanking the motor out to take to a machine shop. I know the machine shops have some sort of thread insert they could put in there, but is it the same as a TimeSert?
yes, they will use a TimeCert.
DO NOT USE A HELICOIL, it will make it worse.

You got a Big Sert kit? The dude that had my block before oversized the damn holes and I didn't know until now.

wow, this happens often? You got a kit I could use? There's a timesert distributor in lville, but I'm trying not to spend that much on a kit unless I have to.
Yours is the worst I have seen, never had one brake the ear off. But I usually rethread, or drill out and thread a bigger bolt in..

that happened to me on my transmission mount get someone with a aluminum wire welder or a tig and then re thread it
Wish I could just use a bigger bolt. The Integra bracket has holes that are just perfect for the original bolts and the bracket's steel is impossible to drill through. I tried 3 different machine shops with a drill press and I went through 2 Snap On cobalt bits tryin to get the holes bigger for a bigger bolt. The block used to be in a Civic and they used a Civic bracket, which were capable of bigger bolts. I used this bracket and the motor sat slightly crooked.
I would definitely get someone with an aluminum welder to fix up this hole, but aluminum welders are hard to come by and someone with a portable/mobile one is probably impossible to find.
