Here you go, and I wouldnt recommend him if he wasnt good. My buddy that owns his own high end body shop sends customs to him all the time that want a cheaper paint job.

^^And which "high end" bodyshop is that?

Like I told you in your PM... bad paint that you pay for will piss you off a LOT more than bad paint that came with the car. Just save up your pennies for a few weeks until you can afford a good paint job.

Go to Andys and look at all the cars parked along the curb with the front end facing the street. Those are all cars he has painted, you will see the quality of his work... it speaks for itself.

Whatever. He asked where to get a paint job done at for around $300, I told him where to go. If he was looking for a more expensive paint job he would have asked for that.

Maaco's are franchise's, their quality solely depends on the ability of the franchisee and their employee's...there is no standard or way to judge them equally.

The quality of the paint depends on the quality of the bodywork underneath...there is no way someone can do body work, no matter how minor it is, and spray a car for $300 without losing money. If so lets see some pics!

I have and I guarantee you I'm as much if not more anal than anyone on this forum about paint and paint care. Granted the ones I've been suprised by weren't $300 paint jobs either.

On the red mustang we just rolled out of the shop, paint alone was just over $220.

When you get PPG paint/reducer/hardner for $60 you can do a decent $300 job...

Exactly, may be a little excessive compared to other colors but i've seen paint cost more than that too...

Show me a customer car invoice from ANY shop that comes to $300 for painting the entire car and I will personally don a pink tutu and sing "It's A Small World After All" in the middle of spaghetti junction during rush hour.

I inserted "customer car" into that to keep from actually having to dance in a tutu on 285 in the middle of spag. junction while singing lol. By customer car I mean walk into a bodyshop owned/operated by someone you have never interacted with before, tell them you want your whole car painted.

hmmmm he just said painting the car and at the price id take it literal of just spraying the car. as in you do all the body work, and buy the paint and he just sprays the car. you still have to wet sand and buff it but he actually just sprays the car.

Stefan I KNOW you are not referring to me as "he"

And please, stop spreading this ridiculous notion that it actually saves a shop ANY time when people bring their cars in "prepped" for paint.

    It doesn't.

It makes it take longer, because we have to go back and fix everything you THOUGHT you knew what you were doing on, and then prep it correctly, and paint it, and listen to people say "Why is it $750? I prepped it myself!"

How do you know the products you use are compatible with the products the painter uses?

oh and i also think 750 is still cheap for a paint job. my friend charged 4500 for a basic paint job and then when up from there for custom stuff. but of course he wouldnt let the car leave without being absolutely perfect either.

$750 is what we run for a basic "shoot the car with the same color it was" job.. no door jams/under hood/trunk, no color change.. that's our "scuff and spray" as it were. And that's for a basic paint.. pearls/metallics go up from there.

Our rent is cheap lol. We also get an extremely good price on paint from a place in Athens.

**** that, i'd only pay 4500 for paint on a damn Ferrari or something exotic needing extreme detailed paint work lol.

well he would do your Ferrari for that as well. keep in mind that is ALL the work, you just bring him the car, tell him the color, and he handles the rest.(all body work is included). this is some of his work

oh and he also free hands all of his stuff. not to mention he also can do a whole car inside and out.

No Ferrari owner will let you spend $4500 to paint a chin spoiler on his car. If you can't afford the maintenance (paint included), you can't afford the car.

I've heard of (but not seen) a $100,000 paint job on an older Ferrari locally.

Completely disassemble a car for the average shop rate of lets say $75p/hr, including removing all glass and trim, prep and paint it, then reassemble it at said rate and tell me what the total is...
