    Default HID/headlight issues.... WTF....

So lately, one of my headlights will randomly flicker and then turn off. I had a spare [new] ballast so i tossed it in. All was fine for a few weeks and now it's happening again....soemtimes with both headlights, but moreso with the pass. side. Here is where things get a little strange. The ballasts are still getting power just fine, and tapping/moving/tinkering with the wiring and ballasts does NOT yield any results. But, if i turn the headlights off for a moment and turn them back on, then the lights come back on just fine. Now sometimes the light will ficker within 5 seconds and turn off, sometimes it'll take 5 minutes to act up or it won't do it again at all.

I cleaned up the ground off the relay but to no avail, i checked ALL of the wiring and couldn't find a single issue.

Anyone have any ideas? New ballasts?

    Hey Nitro......

It's possible that you could have a short in one of your connectors to the light has a short or the ballast is going out. Push and twist on all of the wires going into any connector. I was having the same problem when I first got my HID's. I was about to take back the ballast but once I seen that the connector was making a hot spot where it wanted to connect to the light, I pushed the wire in good and tight and haven't had a problem from it since.

    K series 626. That's right. It's got a K in it.

Mike u may need a relay kit or resistor put on your set-up tho i have had it happen with a couple of customer cars......something like this will cure it.

I'll look into the resistor because the kit does indeed have a relay setup already. But what i don't get is it was fine for months (since i bought it in Jan and this only started about a month ago).

I had to run relays on my Headlights and foglights for my mustang. Sucked ass. You can change the fuse out for a slightly larger one, but the wires might not be able to handle the power increase.

it happen to me with my HID kit, passenger side while driving on road, if my car was to feel a slight bump on road or a lil drop while driving passenger side would flicker and turn off, so i bought a new ballast and replaced it now its working fine.

Im already running a relay. Though going up 5 amps on the fuse might not hurt... might install one and see if it still flickers or not. As for th eresistor... im still thinking about it.

But what i don't get is that when i did replace one of the balasts the problem went away completely and came back. So if adding a resistor is what it needs, then why would everything have worked fine after replacing the ballast for awhile? Argh.
