I test drove one today, and its def. not worth 27g's. It was comfy to sit in but not to drive. 260hp.... didnt feel like it. Handling sucked a barrel of monkey balls. It actually felt like i was driving a 4.6 stang.

my favorite body style of eclipse is still the 95-99 models, the new ones are kinda weird lookin

nope -- ya'll drive a big saturn -- not the small crossed w/an audi saturn - the look of the new eclipse is not impressive -- it looks like all the new cars coming out--nothing sexy about it !

plus i know about an eclipse, and i dont think i will ever own a mitsu again..

yea its good stuff. sometimes I have to make 2 fists and beat on my legs while squatting, I find it is rather helpful in speeding up the movements.

I liked them for a while cus they look different. On this show, which they reviewed the car. They mentioned that people were eagerly asking what car it is and etc. I knew that even with the extra hp, it wasn't worth looking at. I prefer the 95-98 ones cus of the turbo. I wonder why they got rid of it. 27 g's for a new eclipse. Hell no, I'd rather get a 350z or S2k, used or new if im lucky. Plus im not digging the whole clear tail light thing. Also consider the resale value and reliabilty on mitsu's. I wouldn't be suprised if i see one broken down on the road. The interior looks liketoo. Well, it just looks like crap. They do report that the eclipse is selling well though. Then again, the eclipse is the only car that is saving mitsu anyways. Just to show you that you can't have a fast, reliable stock car. Listen to at all the horror of the previous 95-99 eclipse owners. Hmmmm lets see, broken trannies, engine blowing up. Need i say more..

Actually, the 2g DSM tranny is pretty strong. A lot of the "clutch problems" that people were complaing about, was actually a problem with the thrust bearings wearing out, and actually, it gets even more in depth than that in regards to crankwalk. The oil squiters, and other lubrication issues have been some key points in this regard, but it's still not cut and dry. We could literally start a seperate forum for theories and "fixes" but that's a whole other story! Infact, the crankwalk problem gets associated with pretty much ALL 2g DSM's when they are brought up in passing, when infact most 2g DSM's never even had the problem. Now, the 1g DSM for sure had a weaker tranny, but again, a lot of the problems that surfaced were do to bad clutch installs, heavy pressure plates, flywheels not being stepped, a poorly adjusted clutch, a worn pedal assembly (do to excessively heavy pressure plates)...just to name a few. In all the years I've worked on DSM's, Ive come to one generality and one conclusion...they are only as reliable as their previous and/or current owners have maintained them. I've built DSM's that make 400whp, drive 100 miles daily, with 180k on the motor, and never have an issue, solely because they are taken care of and maintained. On the other hand, I've worked on low mileage, beat up, poorly maintained DSM's that are on their last leg. It can go either way, and not to say they didnt have some issues, as do all cars, but the DSM definitely gets a BAD rap for things that arent necessarily related to defects in build quality.

I think he just meant in regards to how many cars they sell. There are alot more eclipses produced than evo's. I think they actually go into production with the evo thinking they are gonna sell every last one of them, and they probably get pretty damn close seeing how they dont make all too many of them. However there are always leftover eclipses at dealerships at the end of the year, and they are always looking to strike a good deal for people who wanna do some year end buying. I dont think they do too much negotiating with evo's, year end or not.
