Default Anyone know of a good mechanic that actually knows what a Merkur IS???

I am looking for a mechanic in the gwinett area that actually KNOWS what my cars are. I need e brake cables for my XR4TI but everywhere I take it the people end up looking at my car like it was from another planet. Kinda sucks driving a 5 speed with no e brake. Any ideas???

Good luck, My uncle was a Ford exec instrumental in getting that car here for its short stay. I remember him having a white one and no one knowing what it was.... Very cool car. I'd think a knowledgable ford tech who had any dealings w/ svo mustangs may also have xr4ti knowledge as well. I realize thats no real answer.....but both were same era, similar set up and technology....... If its just the parking brake, I can't see how it'd be so difficult for most any ASE tech.

I know what they look like Xr4ti and the Scorpio. They were sold out of Ford/Linc Mercury dealership back in the late 80;s. Like Allstar 3.8 said you need a SVO tech then you should be golden.

We usually only work on old skool Japanese cars, but my partner John Has been doing a bit of work on a couple of xr4ti's and is pretty knowledgeable with the Ford 2.3 turbo and the German Ford 2.9 in the Scorpio. You can do an almost bolt in 4.0 v6 into the Scorpio using Explorer manifolds and a 4.0 out of the truck or Exploder. Cool choice in cars. Also we have a nice "for parts" Scorpio.

Do you need just the cables or someone to do the work also?
