Bearing Choice?

So im about to start me rebuild. One of the last things im going to pick up monday is rod bearings. ACL is the company i was going to go with. They have 2 kinds basic and race. Any suggestions. People who have used them can i get a word.

If you wanted to know.... stock crank stock rods arp rod bolts and pr3 pistons. thats basicaly my bottom end.

yah they are going to ask what colors and u tell them based off the #s on the block, crank, and rods.


Marks are stamped on the end of the engine block as a code for each main journal bore. Use these marks in conjunction with numbers stamped on crankshaft to select correct bearings.

Numbers are stamped on the side of each connecting rod to code the size of the large end. Use these numbers in conjunction with letters stamped on crankshaft.

buy ACL regular bearings.

They are Green honda spec and 99% of the time they will be what you want.

Always plastiguage to double check.

We've built 200 motors with ACL bearings with no problems, as long as you check your specs.

Between my personal motors and the shops ive worked at, i would say 200 motors is about right

so i can get the acl race main, rod, and thrust bearing for 120. i know when i go to honda theyre going to be more. if it comes down to my wallet would you still go against it no mo?

no dont get race, just get the REGULAR ACLs

trust me, i had an OEM built GSR with ACL bearings 5 years ago i revved to 9900rpm with no problems, motor lasted 55,000 HARD miles.

My 2.0l LSVTEC had ACL Race bearings but it was arace motor.

Ive built 3 or 4 other engines for friends with ACLs that still run to this day, and made between 170-190whp depending on their mods.

The majority of the industry uses ACL bearings as well. What you do is buy the ACL Bearings, plastigauge and make sure your good. If for some reason you are out of spec on one, you buy the bearing you need from honda.

But CHeck out Honda-tech you can find the ACLs for cheap. OR hit up Mainstream Performance, they usually have sets in stock
