All type r blocks have a different head.... they all have the PR3 (B16) head now the differences between the U.S. blocks and the JDM I'm not really sure usually its only like 5-10 horsepower.....

Its the same block but the type r crank is balanced better or has counter weights, the rods are I believe coated with something and they have more compression too, someone correct me if I'm wrong here......

I always thought it something to do with the JDM motors not having any kind of SMOG/Emission stuff on them, IDK

    i found this...it right????

the difference in the USDM B18C1 and the JDM B18C1 is the ECU maps(more agressive because of fuel availiable) and the fact they have higher octane gas over there available at the pump and Less restrictive emissions. So these 170hp B16's and 180hp B18c's are just like USDM engines with the exception of compression ratio and other small features that protect the engines life

^^^ that's pretty much it. they tune the cars a little differently because of the differences in emmisions and fuel, but all the actual parts are the same between usdm and jdm (except for the japanese writing). as for type r heads, they are pretty much exactly like a b16 head, but with different internals. check the compression chart sticky note to see the difference in power and displacement.
