Question How much in labor for Headgasket and piston rings??

I've got the parts, all i need is someone to replace my stuff cuz my motor smokes like a mofo when i push it really hard or when its cold and its only at 135k miles. (WHITE smoke not black...)

Im talkin about a '90 DB1, B18A1 motor in it. So, on average, can someone estimate to me how much would that cost??

to replace the RINGS< you have to drop the pan an pull the head.

you might as well replace the bearings while you are at it.

THe do rings and a headgasket figure $750-1000 in LABOR only.

    10-15 hours from a shop.

Silversol is right, you are better off buying a longblock.

And if your motor smokes from OIL just re-ringing it may not fix the problem if the bore is out of round

It would probably cost about the same, but would be much less of a headache.

    Think about it this way...

    REBUILD:

    1. Pull engine.
    2. Tear down engine.
    3. Build, build, build, build.
    4. Replace engine.
    5. Pray.

    REPLACE:
    1. Pull engine.
    2. Replace engine.
    3. Pray.

More chances to mess something up on a rebuild (especially if you're DIY'ing it). Messed up rebuild = you're in the same place you started from, but out $1000.

You can pick up a B20B/B20Z or a B18B pretty cheap. Smack a GSR head on there (if you wish) and call it a day.

I believe both are non VTEC. I know the B18B is non-VTEC. Not sure about B18a. Google it, n00b.

both are non-vtec. the b18b just has a slightly higher compression ratio and a slightly different intake cam. what year is your DB?

B18b I believe is the 94-2000 Integra engines that have bigger intake manifold and different wire harnesses.

If you are doing a Re ring, bearings you dont have to pull the engine out

Like posted before, replacing rings may not fix all your problems and may actually cause you more headache than it would be to replace it, have a more reliable motor, and save money...
