    Default Check Engine Light

Alright i need to go do emmisions, but my Check engine light keeps coming on.i have an obd0 civic, so does it matter if it comes on.it only pops on when im in a gear just coasting without touching the gas.One of my buddys said his car did that then he put fuel injector cleaner, and tranny fluid in a bottle, mixted it up then poured it in a vac line and it went away.
    Any suggestions??

First off, connect the jumper wire and pull the code. Tell us what it is. How does the car idle and can you smell any fuel coming out the exhaust while you're driving? I think that you should at least figure out why your CEL is on first before testing.

    K series 626. That's right. It's got a K in it.

It doesn't matter. The CEL is not a adament factor if you will pass emission or not. unless it is a obd0 swap in a 96 and up vehicle. You can have a check engine light and still pass. with a 95 or later vehicle.

if the cel is for an emissions related item it is. what we are getting at is he should atleast at a min. pull the code an see what it is.

^^I agree, at a minimum he should find out what the code is. I didn't know if it was for a emission related problem or not.

On OBD0 the light would be on only for something emissions related. it won't come on if the timing is off though.
