No problem... just saying that I've never met a performance shop that works on Evo's suggest an Evo build that consists mostly of parts you buy off EBay for half the price of their copied original parts.

I have absolutely no problem with XS Power, SSAutoChrome, Megan Racing, etc...

Just curious, which specific turbo are you planning to use on her car, and what size compressor and exhaust housings? ... and are you going to use an adapter plate to mate it with the stock manifold?

I wish you luck on the car, stop taking things I say so personally... let me know when the car's done so we can have some fun. ^.^

What rpm does the t3/t4 start spooling and full spool at (and what gear)? Still haven't answered the specifics of the turbo... like which t3/t4 you're going with, what size compressor / exhaust housings, etc. Internal or External wastegate? Honestly... I've only seen a few setups like these, and they all turn out with results less than what a stock 16g would put out... just giving friendly words. I would hate for this poor girl to invest in all these parts without knowing what to expect.

Also, what is she building the car for? Auto-x / Road-racing? It seems the stock turbo or a modified version of the stock turbo gives the best "mid-range" outta any other turbo on the Evo...

By the way, a girl wanting to learn about cars is cool and all... but it's not something new and not something she deserves a free cookie for. There's plenty of girls, especially locally, with quick rides and quick driving skills...

Now... if she posts pics of herself, I may have a box of cookies to give away. =]

Different turbos run differently on different cars... the GT-series turbos have been pruven to produce amazing top-end power where as other turbos have been less sucessful than stock turbos... and the t3/t4 is one of those.

The phrase "t3/t4" seems to be VERY common so I'm wondering if EvoChick is just getting one or recommended to get one because its the popular turbo for other cars...

t3/t4, which trim is that?

gt30's are very ideal for Evo's on driveability as well as power. That would be my recommendation.

Especially GT3076R.

Yep. The stock turbo has a lot of potential in it but a cheap t3/t4 wont be worth it. Last I heard the XS power turbos compressor housing cracked.

Hmmm... if you have a problem with people asking you questions... you have problems yourself. Sure you may have your own shop and blah blah blah... but I don't see how that dignifies you to be immune to questions or opinions of others. So with the parts I found, we're running a grand total of: $5037, not including the intake manifold, turbo, and injectors (I'd guess probably 1000cc).

Indeed Matt, you are right. It has to be over 6 grand in parts, the turbo alone is probably close to a thousand. Not adding in labor and tuning, which would probably push the job to over the $10k mark.

dunno if it's been said yet... but i think she ordered that crap from "XS Power", which i believe is totally separate from the real xs engineering company. so she probably paid about a buck fifty for all of those parts and 90% of them will break in a week's time. those xs power turbos rock, especially when compressor housing separates because it's epoxied together .
