Im looking to get my tranny rebuilt from the ground up, it grinds in and out of every gear and is unpleasant to drive. Although this is truck is a beater, id like to feel safe letting the rest of my family drive it.

How much should i expect to pay a mechanic to do this? Would it be better to simply replace the tranny all together?

I am trying to get a figure in my head before i go hear offers from local mechanics. Ideas?
