    Default water temp gauge(pic)

since i messed up my temp gauge, i ordred an aftermarket one,
I know where the sensor goes, but does it just take a wire wraped around the edge of the sensor to the gauge? do i leave the original wires unpluged from the sensor?

the instructions it came with is no help what so ever,

Pic of the gauge back and the sensor..

Keep note that the back of the gauge and the end of the sending unit is just threaded..
