Default new oil pump sounds. please read

ok i have an obdI b18c1 in my civic si, i just had an obdII oil pump installed so i could pass emissions. before the new pump was installed the motor made no noise, now it makes a dry bearing noise when the motor is revved and at idle it makes a hydraulic pump noise on and off....the car still runs fine and the vtec works...the one thing that didnt get done was the lower timing belt cover the obdI one got re-used and i know that the obdII one is different ....any ideas? i really dont want to drive it anymore if there is a chance of it getting ruined....and the oil light does not come on, but i know it works.upon start-up it comes on but goes off like its supposed to.
