springs question

browsing through ebay, i see two sets of tein springs. one that's a pretty standard set (looks like everything else) then one with these huge-ass springs.
My question is this: why? i mean, whats the reason for having such a large spring and does it take extra mounting equipment to put those suckers in?

the pictures are probably not vehicle specific....
those bigger springs are made for different suspensions, I would say those big ones are for mac struts.

If you look at the pictures on the one auction there is a caption that says "pictures shown may not be for your specific vehicle"... so yes... that is the case.

The two huge springs though would be the fronts on whatever car they are for.

Regardless you should grab a spring compressor... i think they still rent them out at autozone. Makes things a hell of a lot easier. You get all of your money back afterwards.

the big ones are nissan. on a side note, in the nissan community tein is known for having some quality control issues. i know 1/2 a dozen people that have turned tein coilovers into paper weights after only a few months.

hence the name "dress up kit" on all tein spring box's. Those springs looks similiar to the stock ones found on a later model Accord, just painted green. Don't get them for the color or name...research the spring rates, what shock are you going to match them with, etc.

^^Werd. Those teins suck. I had them on my eclipse and they looked identical to the large ones. They didn't drop my eclipse for shit. O and some guy that worked with me had them on his civic too and her got rid of them also b/c they didn't drop his civic either

Everyone is better off saving their pennies and getting a full coil-over dampener. For what it would cost to get 4 good shocks and 4 springs with a sleeve style coilover you can get a lower budget coil-over dampener, like the Tein Basic, but for a couple hundred more you can get the adjustable SS. I'm running the Tein Flex and love them and for $75 each i can send them back to Tein and get full a rebuild.

I have just installed those S-Tech springs on my car (Maxima) and it has lowered the car dramatically 2.2"F 1.8"R. plus with a 7kg/6kg springs rate its still a pretty smooth ride. Struts are on a soft dampening setting also.
