DEBATING.....
I am currently debating on keeping my civic and doing a SI swap in it...What are some of the advantages to doing a good swap other than better power...Will I lose my gas Milage or not as well I am nervous on this process cause my car is so clean..by the way I drive a 1994 Honda Civic EX Coupe with 230k miles 100% stock....

What happened to that blue civic sedan that you had?
well....gas milage will pretty much remain the same unless you open up the throttle alot( driving w/ high rpm's) which will eat up alot of gas.....i shift at about 4k rpm( dont always shift there, only while driving to save gas...asctually its about 3-4 k rpm)...gas milage is still good.....dont have much info on tha swap though...i think thats where v tec kidd chimes in....

im a honda owner...but not by choice.....its a good car that was a my price range...i still want a IS300 and turbo it and do other things to it as well....but for now, im a honda owner and i embrace it and what i can ( unlike that hater tsispyder)

Problem: Some 530,000 2001 to early 2003 Volkswagen and Audis have been recalled because of potentially defective ignition coils that could lead to a partial loss of engine power, according to the automakers.
Through dealer service reports, the automakers noticed that the coils in the suspect vehicles were failing at a higher-than-normal rate. If a coil fails, the "check-engine" light will blink and the car's performance may become rough, possibly to the point of losing some power. Neither Volkswagen nor the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration consider the coil failure to be a safety issue. VW says that roadside assistance is available for anyone who does not feel comfortable driving with a car that has a failed ignition coil.
Products: The recall includes the Audi TT and A4, Volkswagen Golf/GTI, Jetta, New Beetle, and Passat--all with 1.8-liter engines. The recall also extends to the Passat with W8 engine, all Volkswagens with the 2.8-liter VR6, and all cars with an Audi 3.0-liter V6. The 2.8-liter V6 Passat is not affected by this recall. The majority of affected vehicles are 2001 and 2002 models. Only about 36,000 2003 vehicles are involved.
What to do: Letters went out to consumers at the end of January 2003 notifying them of the problem, Volkswagen spokesman Steve Keyes said. Car owners should make an appointment with their dealer. At present, VW is giving priority to those who have had an ignition-coil failure: broken coils will be replaced immediately. If the car has suffered a second failure, all the coils will be replaced. By March 2003, VW expects to be able to replace all ignition coils on a car if only one has failed.
In order to minimize inconvenience, Volkswagen and Audi dealers will offer alternative transportation at no cost while repairs are made, the company says.

I did a full on build up in my SI and I still average about 28 -32 mpg. So I guess that would mean it avgs 30! lol. I don't know how good that will be when I put in the 150l/h pump and 290 injectors though
Your gas will be about the same. Doing an SI or GSR swap... It really depends on where you want to go with the car.
Or you can Do an LS swap also cheaper then the both mentioned above.. an SI has about 15 to 20 more hp then an LS at the wheels of course depending on engine condition.. But is cheaper. But Like I said, It all depends where you want to go with the car.. Fuck an H22 unless you plan on drag racing the mofo or some shit.. heavy ass motor for that car.. well Ill say about 70 to 90 more lbs then a GSR, but not 100 % sure on that.
Honestly, If you have the Money to do a b16, save some more and get the GSR. =]
and btw, AC will be no problem.
Yeah Julio I am just really tired of slowing down up hills my car runs great however with 230k miles on an origanal motor not much left for pep..I figured the B16 was a good way to go for price and what I really want. I like simple things and to make things really clean as my car is currently spotless..shit who know's I might turbo that bitch I do only drive 10 min a day but really I want Pep/Gas Milage/and Reliabilty and a Clean look thats why I was looking at a B16 if I had the Loot I would do a K20 swap...
kswap = about 8 to 10k wich will = to a 13 second car wich = lame.
b16 + boost WAY less then 10 or 8 k = 13 or even faster.
230K MILES..DAMN!!! MAN..and its still running?..sweet. im guessing you drive it carefully and dont push its limits :confused:
