    Default Whining Noise from B18B1

ok i have a B18B in my CRX. When the engine warms up i hear a whining noise. I originally thought it was the alternator. However on further investigation it isnt. When i pull the dipstick out the whining stops. Put the dipstick back in, more whinig. So i thought maybe the dipstick was hitting something so i tried just plugging the hole. Still whines. I have no clue what this is, does anyone have any ideas?

It's probably whining because it doesn't have VTEC.

depends on which year B18B1 you're talking about really, either of which has minimal skill/time involved.

90-97 = ten minutes - (on intake manifold, underneath fuel rail)
98-01 = two seconds - (sitting right on top of the valve cover)

locate your haynes manual, and get started

It is easy to learn this tasking young padowan

my guess would say that you'll be alright driving it until saturday (use your common sense)

it's a little piece of plastic that connects to a rubber hose. Consult your haynes manual bro. Otherwise, just go to the parts store, ask for the PCV valve (they'll give you the right part) and then locate that same piece on your manifold.

after all that has been said in these postings already, if you still can't find it bro, then i don't know what to tell you.

*unless there isn't one installed - in which case, you may be "chasing a ghost" looking for it. Take a close up picture of your manifold and I'll circle where it's supposed to be for you. lol

Its not hard. Fukin pull it out with some pliers (if its the original its gonna be a PAIN without them and its way past due) just pull it out and push the new one back in.

Its on the top of ur motor by the way.

Instead of buying a new one, can't you just spray out the old pcv valve with carb cleaner?

it can also be your alternator making the noise, loosen up your alternator and take the belt off and start the engine and see if it still makes the noise. if it doesn't it could just be the bearings in the alternator, i had one do this and it never went out on me.
