and you think its the clutch???? will it go in gear with the car not running? If it will, then its probably the clutch. if it wont go into gear with the car not running, then the clutch itself would probably not have anything to do with the car not being able to go into gear. If the pressure plate is stuck, or the throw out bearing it gone, then maybe. Have you checked to make sure there is fluid in the transmission. The burning smell may be the transmission. There may be a bad bearing or something that is keeping the something from moving, and is causing friction (which would lead to heat and burning, and may make it difficult to go into gear).Originally Posted by asian
