For those that have asked, 5w40 is available in full synthetic from Valvoline. I use it.....since I get it for free....

As long as you keep up with regular changes as you're supposed to, it really won't make that huge a difference in most street applications. If you have an FI car or highly modded NA, it is probably more crucial though.
