--> Drop it off at BG/MSP
--> CR test
--> if it's good, bolt-ons and a bottle (including cams)
--> if not - .5 mil overbore and bump CR (if u don't wanna stroke it)
--> if you're gonna boost it - try the importbuilders 1.7l B16

As usual - most will agree w/ Mike... as do I. But b/c it's going in an EF i will say (IMO) that it's okay to build a B16 (since it's what you have). But on the same token non-VTEC B's are readily available - toss on your head and then ur in the 1.8l game (ls/v) for cheaper than sourcing a GSR which can set u back a pretty penny even today. If it was going in any other chassis I'd suggest nothing less than 1.8L -- i do support a B16 in an EF chassis though.

PS: since u DO have another car to drive - I would not stick the motor in w/out a fresh rebuild either way - it's just good business.
