    Default Engine Buying 101

I'm out lookin for engines to go in a 91 Accord EX. I'm no expert mechanic so how do I know I'm not buying another bad motor from someone if it's not in the car? I really need to know bcuz I can't afford another bad engine. Will a F22 from a 94-97 drop right w/no probs?

best bet is to buy one from a reputable engine importer.

How much time do u hv for the car to be down? Perfect op to get a perfomance bump. ORRR if it's a clean EX shell (5spd) then perfect time to sell to me.

it's a black 2dr EX coupe. 5spd. I don't have much time for it to be down. And I don't plan on bumping up the performance since I won't keeping it long. I got another ride I'm working on as well, but I need the honda back on the road since it's the cheapest to fix. I may be selling it as a shell as well if I get a good enough offer.

I doubt this will be any help to you, but since we're talking about the same car...

There's a 93 accord sitting in my garage right now with a dead engine. the issue is one of the pistons, the rod's bent in an almost comical way. Anyway, some parts of it are still good, but we're talking about putting a prelude engine in it so they would have to go anyway. But the head, the transmission (granted it has a lot of miles on it) and some other stuff is fine....So if you need parts let me know...i might have something.

lol, put a d-series in an accord?

You can get a H22 VTEC w/ transmission for around $1,800...then need conversion mounts and axles, header, modify exhaust, etc...

NADauto FTW. We have bought many engines from NAD. All of them have been fantastic.

Ask them to do a compression test, and make sure you do a leak down within the warranty period (no warranty? walk away quickly).
