manual transmissions aren't going to slip unless you have grinded the shit out of it...over and over again. If that's the case then you'll be hearing crunching like a hand full of bb's in a blender. You can always pull the drain plug and see how much metal comes out but most likely the only thing that needs to be replaced is the clutch disc and maybe the pressure plate..of course the throw-out bearing too.
