never used safc but if i recall correctly there is an option under there to to compensate for the z32 maf without reflashing the ecu..
i know with a safc II you can change the input/outputs which will make the mafs run fine without ecu tuning. Search nico or zilvia.net for exact instructions.

That's what a afc is for: lies to the ecu. The SR ecu is old so it does not change over time like the WRX ones'. If your engine is running fine, let it be unless you are upgrading or trying to turn up the boost.
Z32 MAF without tuning: VG MAF and SR MAF reads airflow differently (The unit is different). So even with the same number, the feedback from both MAF is different. And this makes your engine running rich/lean.
The guy i bought my car from sold the sr maf all i have is the z32 maf
get safc II, search zilvia for the correct numbers, it will make the z32 mafs work perfectly fine with your sr ecu. i had it, done it, worked fine. like three seconds of going through the safcs menu and your done.

I looked in the paper work for my safc and it has the option to hot wire and it has the z32 code in it will it be the same as the safc II?
if your safc can do it thats fine, dont need a safc II. I just never personally used a safc so i wasnt sure if it could do it. Should just have to change a input/output setting, translates the z32 to the sr ecu.

IF you really want it to run, you can use a SOHC KA24 MAF.
In 2 out 5 or vise versa second set of numbers stay at 1
