battery keeps dying after cutting car off for awhile

Needs a New battery an might need a new alternator, most likely it will need Alternator remmeber the pulling of the neg post was a OLD school trick for OLD school cars, now the computer controls,an would keep the car running...charge battery to 12 volts, then crank it up an put a volt meter on it, if it is not near 13.5 -16.volts its bad! REPS please
