Will Toyota Stop Being Gay?

After 2000 it seemed that Toyota has been really gay and discontinuing all things fun.
In 2007 they discontinued the AWD Matrix and entire XRS lineup
In 2005 they discontinued the MR2-S
In 2005 they discontinued the Celica
TRD is basically nothing at this point
In 2002 they discontinued the Supra in Japan
In 2002 they stoped racing CART
In 2000 they stoped racing in Le Mans
In 1999 they quit racing in WRC
In 1999 they discontinued the MR2 in Japan
In 1999 they discontinued the Supra in USA
In 1995 they discontinued the MR2 in USA
In 1994 They discontinued the Celica All-Trac in USA

in practical buisness..... later on when people are unhappy with the products a company produces, they will no longer buy their products and then money go down. in a cycle

For the most part, the people who want and appreciate those cars can't afford them; so do you blame Toyota for being in the car business to sell cars? An example would be (obviously this isn't 100% accurate, I don't know anything about the logistics for a car company) if you had a parking spot in a lot on your dealership, would you put a Supra there that would take 3 months to sell but looks cool or have 4 different Camry's there in that same time frame?

You may be unhappy with the products that they produce (in that regard) but it wouldn't be a far stretch to say that most of car buying America doesn't care, and if the Supra came back tomorrow, it still wouldn't sell.

They sell more TRD equipped vehicles today than any of the years of "cooler" cars that you mentioned.

Toyota is to busy building real stuff that sales... while the celica all track was bad ass and so was the supra... they havent made a cool car sence 98. Yea the Avalon is pimp ass and i would ride one.. just not very fun...

The money is in trucks, suv's where they probably build the best out there... Also lexus is big now so cool stuff goes to them because they can charge more.

When i got my 98 supra it had a $10K rebate on it.

give them some time.. they are in the process of taking over the world... cool cars will come but they also come at a price.. $30K for that new FJ is crazy high..

Anyways, you can't say TRD is nothing. They've got the Craftsman truck series. Everyone knows that the $$ is in NASCAR these days. ****in sucks, but that's how it is.

30k for fj isn't crazy, **** my Tacoma cost that much. check out the new Sequoya in the 40-50k range!

trd still sells alot of parts though just as they always have. nobody is discounting trd.

the celica got replaced by the TC....which i wasnt to happy bout..and thier is rumors of toyota working on a new mid engine car...might be a new MR2..the MRS was a great car,id love to have one..ill never understand y it didnt take off

yeah but they stop putting balls in the car. think about it. The last generation mr2 had a crappy 1zz corrolla engine compared to the sw20 that had the legendary 3sgte. The celica gts 2zz was the last thing they did that had any power but even that was really only meant to crush stock integras and civics. Toyota stop makin real sports cars in the 90s. It really pisses me off. they have been makin great lookin cars but they dont put the real drivetrains in them anymore, I downgraded from a 2000 celica gts 6sp to a 92 mr2 cuz i think i can get more potential from the 3sgte than i ever could from the 2zz. its sad.

theyre just as fast as the rsx type s when theyre both stock. but the engine is not as stout as the kseries. so once the mods start the celica gets dusted unless u put a buttload of money into them.. u can mod a 3sgte cheaply to 275 hp.
