    Default Another Damn MR2 Questoin

    where can i find aftermarket parts for gen 1 3sgte. is any of the gen 2 3sgte stuff interchange able like the exhaust and the intake?

    gen1? as i am aware that all of the US 1991-1994 3sgtes were gen 2.

    All US MR2's came with Gen 2 motors stock.

    Try the parts sections of the following:

    yea man i know it is. There is a gen1 3sgte motor but it never made it in to the mr2 it was in the 86-89 Celica Gt4's. I'll call you later man

    Very, Very few Gen 1 engine parts are compatable with Gen 2 engines.

    the mr2 i'm looking at has a gen 1 3s-gte swap in it from a 88 celica gt-4 the a2w intercooler was swapped for a a2a intercooler and the gen 1 intake manifold was swapped for a gen 2 so what my question is can i just go out and buy gen 2 aftermarket stuff or do i have to go and track down gen 1 parts?

    I do not understand why they would have swapped that motor in there?

    I, personally, would find another MR2 with a Gen 2 or a Gen 3 swapped into an MR2.

    If you really want this one, you will need Gen 1 parts for the engine.

    i dont think many people know the compatibility differences between the gen 1 and gen 2 cause the gen 1 is not as common as the gen 2... so i think your out of luck there.


    i have no idea why that person would swap a gen 1 in when gen 2 and JDM gen 3 are easy to get and upgrade.




    swap it out for a 3vz/5vz or 1mz/3mz

    well i am still checking into compatibility if they are compatible i will go for this one but if not then i guess i am still on the hunt.

    if you get it, i would sell the motor as a whole or part the motor out, then use some extra money and get a gen 2 turbo swap.

    cause almost no one knows about gen 1s.

    also blue interiors are ugly.
