    Default B20 VTEC: emissions?

for anyone out there with a b20vtec, do you have trouble passing emissions?

.....if you are subject to visual inspection your going to fail because putting engines in cars they don't belong is illegal. Second, OBD2 is difficult to fake even with someone else helping (has to do with computer checking the info inside the ecu). OBD1 - 0 is do-able but remember that the computer is checking for the out-put of your stock car not a CRV's out put.

a swap itself isn't nec illegal, but it may not be considered emissions compliant if the person running the emissions is a hard a$$ and knows what the engine is (more than likely you won't run into that). is your chassis obd1 or obd2? if it's obd1 i can socket/chip and tune the car and it more than likely will pass the sniffer test as long as you have a cat on it and working o2 sensor. if it's obd2 then use the b20 computer. since it's non-vtec and if you have a cat plus primary and secondary o2 working you can more than likely get the ecu into readiness w/o throwing any codes and pass.

    good luck.
