    Question b18 into 91 lude?

    will it work? I recently wrecked my integra but it's fine, and I found a 91 lude for cheap and the only thing wrong iwth it is a bad engine, I know that they have H series engines in them, but with different engine mounts it should work... right?

    edit: apparently it was a 91 lude with a b20 in it, will the b18 work? or still just go for another engine by parting out the integra, and another question, how much is it to replace the rear glass in a 91 prelude, I'ma bout to buy the shell for 750, only thing wrong is the engine, and the busted rear glass.

    Sell the B18 and part out the car, you can get a VTEC H22 with transmission for around $1800, stock with more torque and power than you'll get out of your b-series with mods.

    Get the H22 thats what I did. JDM H22A from tiger japanese auto parts set me back 1300 shipped with an ECU. Now I kept my stock H23 tranny but recently switched to an H22 tranny, stage 2 clutch, and a lightened flywheel which set me back another 1200. I loved the old tranny, just keep the h23 tranny and get the clutch and flywheel, its the route to go due to the nice 4th gear for highway runs.

    aparantly none of you guys know of the potential of the B20 that comes in that car. Keep the B20, if possible, get a JDM B20 motor (3rd gen prelude motor, not CRV motor). the newer B series motors are different and will be a pain in the ass to install. as well as an H22. PM me or OaTmEaL if you need more info for your 91 lude, hes a guru when it comes to that car. He had a JDM B20 and ripped on swapped integras and civics all day

    its a guy on craigslist selling b20 or b21 and tranny for i think $800 he got low miles

    so my best bet would be to part out my wrecked 93 integra, buy the shell of the 91 prelude, and find a b20 to put in there? and would I have to replace the tranny? I believe the only thing wrong with the engine is bad compression or some crap like that, and how hard is it to actually perform the swap, I have engine lift and whatnot, I just dont have the know-how.... yet.

    if your gonna get an engine, buy a JDM B20A. more power/torque. its only like 895 and less miles. If you already have an engine stand it should be pretty easy

    okay, so I bought the 1991 prelude, it has a B21A1 in it, not exactly sure what's wrong with it, and I have the 1993 Acura Integra with a B18C1 I believe in it, the integra has some frame damage on the front, the hood, fender and front bumper is fubar, but the rest of the car is the best condition integra I've seen. should I part out the integra and save up for a B21? orrrr could somebody point me in the right direction to a B20 from a prelude, because I've been looking and all I can find is B20s from CRVs... also, I was wondering if anyone knew where I could get a cheap rear glass replacement on the prelude, since the back window is busted. the prelude is a 5pseed, and the integra is an automatic... any information/help would be mucho appreciated. +reps to whomever helps.

    found some help, http://nippon-motors.com/honda.htm has good prices on B20a5 engines, goin for 650 shipped.... for anyone who is going through the same stuff as I.

    As for the Integra engine, only 2 were available in '93 US models: B18a1 and B17a1.

    get a JDM motor. theres a little more power/torque and its not that much price difference

    if your not going to do much engine modification then get the jdm b20a. your tranny will bold up with no problem.

    if you diside to go with a h22a then you've got your work cut out for you and I wish you good luck . it will be a great learning experience for you. you'll also need custom motor mounts to fit the h22 in and do some fab. to the firewall as well.

    civic and integra b series engines are two entirely different entities. prelude b series engines were actually designed for boost. honda just forgot to add the turbo manifold and the turbo lol.

    bottom line. get the jdm b20

    DO NOT GET THE B21A1 unless you are going to resleeve the block! It's the aluminum to aluminum contact between the rings and sleaves that creates a high amount of friction and causes them to wear, if honda had moly coated the rings there would be no problems with the b21Not enough oil changes will make ANYTHING burn as much oil as a b21 does when you don't change the oil, the real question is why it's so hard to repair them correctly. Which someone said was because you need a special tool to hone the FRM sleeves(i believe it) and if you don't hone them or hone them with the wrong tool (like one for iron sleeves) it doesn't leave the correct crosshatching in the cylinder walls and the rings don't seat correctly. I forget who said that, but it makes very good sense to me, and matches what i know about rebuilds in general.

    NSX's have the same sleeves, and nobody complains about them burning oil. Then again they are in the "supercar" land of 1k-3k mile oil changes, which means they won't wear and start burning oil.
    Of course most people also expect supercars to burn oil, seeing as ferrari's are well known for it (they used really really soft sleeves, oops)

    I thought that the rings were steel also, and that the gnarly alum-alum friction was on the piston and sleeve.

    Both of those can be solved by getting the pistons/rings coated with the ceramic "hardened lube" that theoldone(.com) uses, it's also hard as hell, but it's also slippery as hell, cuts friction and wear by a lot.


    If you have anymore questions please let me know because I am one of few that know about both of the blocks and what they can do together when done right.

    The best cheap combo is the B21A1 bottom end with the B20A (not CRV) head with B18A1 cams with more goodies! I have done it in my white Lude... I have owned 5 Preludes
