Default titan motor in a S14

I'm looking to do something a little out of the ordinary. My buddy already has a LS1 waiting to drop in his S14, I've been thinking about staying in the nissan family. Maybe even twin turboing it. I can get the older titan 5.6l motors for about $350. I think they have a wider angle head design than the LS series (90 degrees), and I've heard they won't fit without some crazy fabrication. Anyone heard any different? I would like to go ttV8 either way, I've heard the 4.1l vh41de works. if I can't get a v8 I like, I'm just gonna do a VQ35DETT.

Dan has been researching all of this for our cars next year. You can e-mail him or mike if you want. They may be able to help.

Chris Forsberg has a Titan V8 in his 350Z. I know it had a lot of drama, but it's working out now. It took him almost 2 years to get it right.

ha ha, yea I was hoping to have my car down less than 2 months. I'm ready to get back into drifting, I'm just tired of the SR. hmmm... maybe rotary. damn I'm smart. I think I have enough parts to put a 13b together in the shop. wonder if I can talk rick at mazmart into loaning me a 4 rotor.

I would have to say....wow good luck with that. Really the LS1 or LS2 is the best V8 option right now from what I have heard from Dan. It has more R&D behind it as far as a swap into the 240 goes and parts are cheap and easy to find. I understand trying to be different, you just have to be ready to pay the price to be different....which is time and money

Don't listen to the bandwagon crap you will probably hear. The masses do things like this because it works

yea, I might just look more into finding a LS1. my friend Daniel (who I spoke of in the first post) made 320rwhp and 340rwtq with only a slp exhaust on the camaro his LS1 came out of. pretty impressive to me considering my stock S14 made 127hp and 143tq. thats a huge gain, and probably cheaper than getting a SR or the KA to those same levels. but were definitely looking to turbo his, he's hoping for 800+ hp. I don't really know why. just to say it has it I guess. I'm looking for a much lower, streetable number. around 400 give or take. and it's doable, reliably. and I'd still be looking at 20mpg hwy. The only thing I hate, is how "redneck" it sounds. "let's throw a V8 in it". but I think the advantages outweigh that. ha ha, then I'll only be left with getting rid of my blue emerald paint.

It sounds redneck as hell. Oh well. I hate rednecks, but it's the best option for what we want right now. NA V8 power=less cooling issues and lots of cheap torque

Yea, I think rick sells those for around $100k. no way I'm getting that. could always do a 20b.

redneck it might be, but the camaro was fun to drive, didn't have to wait for boost to spin tires. I can only imagine in a car that weighs way less.

I don't think it'll be nearly as tough to get the S14 up to par with the FD. (504hp and 336tq on a GT35R @ 18lbs) god I miss that car. it had to have been the loudest car I've ever driven. but even with the greddy ti exh, the turbo was still louder. I just want my s14 to spin 285's in 3rd like the fd.

if u want to be different go 20B or 13B rew

but not gonna be cheap...iv always wanna to see how a 240 rotary stacks up against a RX-7 since there bout the same weight

also dont forget bout the RX-8's Rensis engine...it probbly be better for DD

I need to post up pics of my shop. I've definitely got the parts to put a 13b together... might be missing a housing tho. I've got a LS1 on engine stand right beside a fresh Sr20 with built bottom end and head. I think the only thing original on that SR is the crank. just need a turbo for it. I've also got a completely stripped S13 coupe for the SR. It's off to get caged next month. ha... I've even got a 3000gt VR4 motor. with forged pistons and rods. maybe i just need to sell a bunch of stuff. like the 3 stock fd exhausts. NSX exhaust, and springs. it's a mess

I'm making 304 whp and 289 wtq on 8.5 PSI stock block, stock head, stock timing maps -2* base, stock ECU SAFC tuning, pump gas, I'd run more boost but I was happy breaking 300 at 8.5......... 450-500 whp would be cake on a built bottom end and deffinatly different.

The crank for the 2007 Spec V, and Spec V only, is now fully counter ballanced and the factory redline was bumped to 7K.

The twin turbo VQ sounds good, lookn at about a 8-10K job depending on fab parts, mods, ect. Cheaper alternative would be a fresh VG30DETT from a JDM clip.

ha ha.. I work for Z1motorsports.. I can get it cheap. I can get an older VQ for around $300. Ideally I'd like to do the aps kit, but that is a chunk of change.

I say go Titan if you are looking for something different. LS1 is a strong motor also. I've felt both. I have to say the titan is torquey. Either way stay V8
