Honda Engine/DA Integra Question for all the GURU'S

Ok well as some of you know I am looking for a new...ish car. Something that gets good MPG or atleast better than what i am getting. My current setup is the 300zx getting 17 MPG and my truck getting 8MPG...So as you can guess I cant get THAT much worse as far as imports go.

Any way back to the story. I found a 92 DA Integra for $500. Its a 2 door, black, 5 speed, and is said from the owner that he has never had a problem with the car before. It needs a paintjob and radio as well as the interior having tears in the seats. Also 193,000 miles on it. Now i dont mind the seats and radio and whatnot because I am taking those out for racing seats and i have a very loud system to put in anyway (i have the headunit and whatnot). So since i could pick this car up for very little. I am thinking a nice engine swap is called for.

I dont want a turbo now but might later. I do want Vtec but also a nice amount of torque. I dont want a 13 second car or anything either. Just a comfortable daily driver that will get up quick when i want it too.

So what I am really asking is what is a good engine configuration to go with that will provide a nice amount of torque along with vtec for a little top end. Also any suggestions/picturs of other CLEAN DA's would be nice too. Just idea's as to which color to paint and what type/color rims.

imo a stock DA has more get up and go then alot of cars around its price for the years it was made in. I.E. protege,jetta,civic,mirage jus my .02

you want torque and VTEC and dont want to spend a arm and a leg, better learn how to do a LS/V or GSR swap. Type R will be out the ass, b16 wount give you torque....just boost the LS and call it a day.

Well I have say 7K that is for paint, wheels, suspension, brakes, engine, seats, exhaust, body (lip, dent removal, hood). So unless I could do a K20 for around say 3-4K i think not.

And yes i know that it sucks to drive a honda. Then again I drive roughly 200 miles a week. So I need something better.

When i said want a nice daily driver i dont mind putting 1-1.5K into engine mods. Just wanted to make it clear that i didnt want a race car just a fast daily.

I have the hook up on (good) paint job and dont want to just cut the springs. And wouldnt go over 16's anyway.

id do a ls swap and boost the ls...dont have to change pistons (already low comp) or any of that bs run a safe psi.

not the cleanest but if you want a pic of one with some stuff done to it mines in here small get together
i say drop a gsr in it if you want vtec, i/h/e, and i got mine on megan racing sleeves and springs (which were only like 150 bucks) and on tokico hps.
raze wheels on there now i used to have slips though.

the body is in excellent shape, engine smokes like a frieght train (but it runs), passenger axle clicks just a little, driverseat looks like a rabid cat got hold of it... , and it just needs a LOT of work. Make sure you've got your money lined up before you go buying it bro. 7k would be plenty to bring this car back from the dead. It's a very good project car, the guy is the second owner and he's driven it to work for the past eight years.

Good thing i didnt post anything personal...gotta love that edit button. LOL but it is public to a point. And I was advertising so it is ok lol. But preciate the heads up on the car and still might go look at it just depends on weather i know for sure about the funding situation. I might go ahead and pick it up and if it dosent work outthen resell it. Dont think i can lose too much. Might just buy it and part the whole thing. IDK though, thanks for the info though.

Hmmm im gonna have to meet everyone some day. But ya I should bring it back to life I drive to phenix city and back like 3-4 times a week along with work so gas is starting to kill me. Not to mention the 300zx take premium only. Thanks for the compliment on the truck though.

Just buy the car, rebuild the motor or swap a newer engine tranny and a little paint and call it a day. You won't have to much into it, it would be reliable and not a thief magnet. Comming from a former Da owner. I didn't mod the car at all it had a GSR swap and that just about it. Sleeper.

Hmm might IDK currently me and the GF are taking a weekend off to head down to PCB Florida for a few days so there goes a nice little chunk of money. Been together 2 1/2-3 years almost and things havent been to good because she lives a nice 25 minutes away and i work alot. So some quality time will do us good. But I have a little cash stored away that I may offer him.
