Default EG taillights staying on even when switch is off...

What could this be? it just randomly happened on the way to home depot. Ive had the same issue in my old civic and my old mech fixed it in like 5 seconds but i cant remember what it was. I think some kind of switch?? where is this switch located and if that is it, is there a way to rig it to where i can drive the civic tomorrow to go get a replacement?

As of right now, my lights are unplugged so i cant go anywhere

sometimes, to bypass that rubber bump stop, you can always readjust the switch to where it sits closed with the brake pedal untouched. That happened to my homegirl's legend

    K series 626. That's right. It's got a K in it.

damn, well if you didn't find all that stuff i'd say a ground

but i agree, the sensor for your brake pedal. back your car up to a wall or something. grab the pedal with ur hand and lift up, if the lights turn off it is that sensor

there is a ruber plug up on the brake pedal it wears out and falls apart you just need a bolt that will fit inthe hole w/ a nut on the back. the rubber plug hits the switch that turns the lights off. when you push the brakes it releases the switch and when you let off the plug pushes the switch in and turns the lights off. My step bro had the same problem in his CRX a few weeks ago and that fixed the problem.

^^^ The problem with that is the plug goes in a hole in the pedal. so pulling up on the pedal would just let the switch go through the hole and nothing would happen.

but lifting the pedal will deactivate the switch turning off the tailights letting him know that that is the switch that isn't working correctly.

not a hole in the PEDAL but the hinge in the back that connects to the brake booster

if you found the rubber on the floor then its not the switch its self but the plug that pushes the switch.
