I will ask the finance managers at work. They sell lo-jack to new car buyers.

Alright check this. I found this on a bike forum awhile ago. I found it pretty badass.

Every cell phone, even without service will call 911. Thus it will get service.
Take a phone your not using that still works and copy that barcoded crap stuff under the battery. Keep that shit and laminate it or something.

Basically all you have to do is hide that phone with its charger, hard wired into the system so when the car is on, it charges and when its not the phone is on but on standby. (Use a nokia, those things can stay on for like a week uncharged)
Then if you bike or car gets stolen, you take your little number down, call the company the phone is used by (Cingular, T Moblie... blah blah blah) and tell them you want a trace. Im pretty sure its free, it might cost you a penny or two.
Walla they find the phone and your vehicle within about 6 feet.

    Free and easy.

only they dont do GPS with cell phones... they don't "tryangulate" a cell phone buddy. its a cell phone. besides, what happens when the phone goes out of service? the 911 calls are for calling 911, not finding the lost phone. thats so you can call 911, even if the minutes are canceled. otherwise, the phone company would get like a neglegent law suit.

I thought lo jack used some type of sound system that sends out pings that only cop cars that are equipped with lo jack detectors could hear it.

bingo. but not only cops. the company has to enable the lo jack i think. otherwise, the car would go off all the time, and cops would be distracted by the nice car yelling at them while they are trying to eat the donuts and not get any on the laptop in the car. oh yea, the porn site on their laptop kinda distracts them too...but its ok, they are piggys. they can do anything...like superman. i wish some of them could figure out how to go and retire or die or whatever. i don't like cops, especially after getting arrested and getting a felony. bastards.
