the do-it-yourself is more rewarding. You learn more about your car, you have more pride in your car. it may take a little longer, but you just take your time and do it right.

I rebuilt my motor. Did all the pistons, bearing, rods, everything and it's more gratifying (sp) knowing that i put the motor back together.

(not trying to take work away from any shop ^^) just a suggestion.
