Default Question 4 u subaru ppl

i got a deal through a friend for a 94-95(dont remember which exactly) white impreza L 4 door 5 speed for $250.it has 190k on the crap stock motor. i know there r some viable motor swap options for the car (EJ20 from the JDM same year STi correct?), but i was wondering what my options were and if this is even a car i would want to take on as a project. what would the major problems i would encounter be? is the drivetrain capable to handle any power. and any opinions or comments would also help...thanx

Subarus are alot like Hondas, almost anything from any subaru will bolt together and into another subaru.

Fitting the motors in will not be a problem. Where you sometimes run into problems is with the ecu's and wiring harnesses etc.
If you really want to know about old school subies then the guy to ask is Will over at topspeed. The guy has done more with older subies than anyone i know. He knows what swaps into what.
My dyno numbers are bigger than your dyno numbers

If this is something you are going to do yourself then get ready for some fun. The wiring is going to be the hardest part. You need to get the wiring diagram from both cars and start switching pins. Its really not as hard as everyone makes it out to be.

I repinned an entire mustang ecu in one night while watching tv. I just pulled up both wiring diagrams off the net and started marking wires and switching them one by one.

If you need help let me know.
