Default Who Works on boat motors?

Does anyone on this board work on boat motors, or know anyone who does?

I have a 80HP Johnson and for some reason it dont wanna stay running, i think the carb needs to be rebuilt.

I have got it started and running good, but then it dies and its hard to start up again,

Does anyone know anyone, that can help me?

2 stroke, or 4 stroke?? Accelerator pump carb? Or 2 stroke carb?? Could be valves if its a 4 stroke, could be low on compression on either motor. Could infact jus tneed a carb rebuild.

Hint: Just buy a SR20. RB25/26s are overhyped, just get rid of the RB20 you have now.

just get some carb and choke cleaner and take the carb off your self and clean it...clean it 2-3 times and then let all the parts soak in the cleaner for a day or so then let it dry and put back on...if that doesnt work seek profesional help. Could save you alot of money tho...i know that some places charge $200 or more to do that...
