Yeah, the nissan pickup came with a ka24.
But the 240sx and Altima came with a ka24.
Not to mention the Stanza has a KA24E.

    So I mean 3 > 1.

So the Nissan pickup has a car engine?

I can't believe I'm reading a thread titled SR's are gay. First off, its a damn engine. It's what moves the car. Who gives a rats ass what engine someone uses, it's all means to the same end, which is more power! I have respect for KA's but have heard of too many boosted ones blowing up, I love RB's but can't afford one, so what am I left with? The SR... It's quick, reliable and light. Maybe so many people have them because they are a good thing! Is it so rare and avant garde now to have a KA in your car? EVery damn 240sx ever made had one (roughly 225,000 cars over 9 years), how is that new and different? I thought the whole point was to have a relatively cheap, reliable rear wheel drive fun car with lots of potential.

Silly kids and your my-engine-is-better-than-yours attitude.

Stop trying to be cool and just enjoy your cars.

    Well said, reps to you.

Unless you are talking about RB20s. We frown on that engine in these parts.

I don't want an rb20. I would have thought it to be understood that I was talking about a 25 or 26 when 20's are obviously cheap, but then I guess you can't comprehend things very well unless they are spelled out for you huh?

I plan on swapping over to an RB25 at some point and dropping the SR in one of my other 240's.

Sure the SBC has been around forever. It's a fundamentally sound design. I just have a few friends with LS1s that have had a lot of minor issues sprout up on low-mileage cars....things that just should not be happening to "new" cars. Like power steering pumps going out before 40,000mi. Random A/C parts starting to leak refrigerant. Glass windows separating from convertible tops. I know these things aren't really related to the LS1 itself...but it all just makes me want to stay the hell away from anything GM.

Now, if someone offered me an FD powered by either a 13B or a LS1...I'd probably take the LS1! But that's another story entirely.
Totally agree on the dexcool, but thats easily remedied. Don't know what they were thinking on that one. Even most hardcore gm fans look down on them for that lol

Very true, but still I think it was a bad idea considering it was pretty mainstream to just run to the store and buy some antifreeze when its needed. The average person never knew.....

and i have to turbo the KA to get the same amount as an SR, are you shitting me??

I could build a NA KA that make the same amount as the SR

guess what your SR's are barely 200 hp at the wheels

bottom line, KA24POS. SR20DET.....alot better motor. KA24DE=155hp? out of a 2.4L motor? SR20DET makes 205hp from the s13 motor. 2.0L 205hp. KA is a klunky truck motor. all torque, no power. SR is alo higher rev, alot more reliable. save your money and buy the SR. and the RB's come out alot more expensive anyways. RB has to have exrememly expensive mounts, SR uses stock motor mounts. if money were not a concern, i'd have gone with an rb25. but anything is better than the KA, i mean even honda motors....they're better than a KA. go throw your $3000 into that KA, have a heavy ass block, make your 250 HP and call it a day, or buy the SR, do the swap, spend like $2000. that leaves you with $1000 to spend on a build up, you make alot more that 250hp. but keep your mouth shut until you have something good to say.

I'm proud to be on the bandwagon.
Agreed. Think I bought my first one in 99', but ended up buying 4 more shortly after. I know this sounds funny, but 3 of them I bought to sell later after learning how versatile they are. I figured they would eventually become the new civic one day, especially after seeing how popular drifting had become in japan. Didnt pay over $1000 for any of them then, but sold every one for quite a bit more a few years ago.

If I was only as good at stock picking.......

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to tracy again.

You should probably do some more research. KA's were in more types of car than truck. not that I dont agree with you though.

yea, KA's came in alot of nissans. but they are unreliable truck motors. no power, lots of torque. hey its like a ford motor... i hate my ford. but the KA came in all those vehicles because nissan sales were down, still under Datsun management here in the states. so, the KA saved money for nissan. it meant they had a powersource to put into anything they designed. 1 motor to design, 1 motor built. no various motors parts list, no various motor problems, just the problems on the 1.

yea i wouldnt say they are unreliable. Of course they are going to be when you try to get twice the stock power out of them but in stock form they last a long time.

I wasn't being facetious. I don't know much about the frontier supercharger (is it pricey?).

But I know you can get an eaton blower from a junkyard for sooooo cheap - like less than $100. Then you can weld yourself together a manifold for the price of some scrap aluminum. Then machine a pulley, maybe $50 or so. Then belts are cheap, and inside the IM you just made is room for laminova cores. Air to water interocooled. So for well under $1k you have all the torque and some nice top end too. Fun car to play with.

What turbos are on both cars that you're quoting power for without a dyno?
