Need help with tire size/brand

18x8.5 front
18x9.5 rear
What would be a good size? looking for low profile, car sits really really low
any suggestions on brands?
had Federals on my old car and absolutely loved them, tread wear ROCKED, hard compound, great for drifting
Any one else have any other brands they suggest?
dont stagger your wheels size too much... it'll make for shitty understeer when pushing the car hard. Besides, not putting the widest tire you can on the rear makes the sidewall more stable and responsive
I'd probably way something like 225/45 18 front and 255/40 18 rear... that way you'll also have the same rolling diameter (ok, so its off by like 2/10ths of an inch..... front circumference would be 81.6 in and rear would be 81.8)

im running Bridgestone Fuzion ZRi and im quite happy with them. Never liked TOYOs. Kumho are alright in my book. BFGoodrich KD Sports are also nice.

you always want to match the same outside diameter, you go a size wider then you want to go a series lower...just trying to figure out what works the best.
As mike mentioned you don't want to stagger too much or you'll have serious understeer issues, especially in slippery conditions...

from those numbers says the front has a larger side wall then the rear?!

Im going for a crazy handling car, so anything that will reduce the drivablilty is a big no no for me

Do you know what those numbers mean? The first number, 245 means 245mm or 24.5cm...divide that by 2.54 and that will tell you how many inches wide it is. The second number, 40, is the precentage of the first number. So 40% of 24.5cm is the thickness/profile of the tire. Obviously the last number is the wheel size.
With that said, 40% of 245 is pretty close to 35% of 265 (1.6% differance)

I thought Tire sizes are expressed in the format WWW/AAXDD. WWW is the tire’s section width, measured in millimeters. AA is the aspect ratio or profile of the tire, which expresses the tire’s height as a percentage of its width. X is a letter indicating the tire’s internal construction. DD is the diameter in inches of the wheel that the tire is intended to be mounted on.
