Default What to do on a car just bought

i recently picked up a 95 camry, probably a month ago. It has 178000 on the odometer presently and i dont know when its last oil change or maintenance check up was. I have no past history..no nothing. I was thinking of dropping by an auto shop and asking them if they could see what was wrong with it and what needed fixing, but thought they would charge me a ridiculous amount of money for it so I didn't. Instead, I bought a Haynes manual and hoped to gain some knowledge from it. I don't have much experience working on cars...so i have some noobish questions: What is a simple tool set i should buy to work on my car with? What are some vital areas to check/fix on my car first? Lastly, Autozone, Advance Auto Parts, or NAPA? lol thanks

being that its a 95, the t-belt is due every 60k miles on a camry.. it will most likely need oil pump, cam and crank seals as well as a water pump if they havent been done. assuming its a 4cyl, that 5sfe isnt very moddable but they are extremely reliable. im a toyota technician so i work on them every day. also you wanna do spark plugs and do not use aftermarket plugs.. only use ngk or denso plugs. check the cap rotor and wires as well. its also very likely that the distributor o-ring is leaking. it really just depends on how well the vehicle has been maintained,
