    Default need help got a b18b wont start

    ok the car when u try to start it shoots white smoke out of a hole in the valve cover thought it was oil but i have oil in there also add some still shoots but the car sounds like it wants to come on but still wont after u keep tryin it it seems to want to come on more but still wont come on i thought it was a distributor but my friend says its the ecu can anyone help me out

    i bought it like dat and the guy said it need a distributor but i dont think its blown it sounds like it wants to start the cam gears both turn so its not locked up

    jumped timing? distributor? feul injectors? based on how u described it i would say distributor. my b18a was doing the same thing... replaced distributor and she started right up

    the firing order ciuld be off on the distributor, or the timing is off on the belt.

    the smoke could be 3 things:

    1) Unburnt gas from the timing being way off or th firing order off
    2) Coolant from a blown headgasket
    3) Oil from a blown up piston

    just because there is OIL in the motor doesnt mean it wont shoot smke out if you have a fucked up engine.

    check the firing order, an check the timing belt

    wtf u talkin about but i havent checked the timing but i think i might be the distributor cuz the dude that gave me the distributor gave me it for free but it spins but dont know if it works and Annihilation wtf u talkin about i dnt kno u

    i found out the ecu wasnt working like in my friends car the light on the inside blinks but mine didnt blink at all so i think that is what is wrong so i have to buy a da ecu now

    do a compression test before you do anything else...it costs alot less...$15 from autozone to get a tester.

    you running a b18b on a obd-0 ecu? what kinda car is this in? why dont you swap ecu's with your freind and see if it works. if not check timing like kidd said..also the corey that annihilation was referring to was coreyblade......thats far before your time noob

    i found out the motor is a b18a with a b18b head and the smoke that was coming out its suppose to be a plug that goes to the manifold from the center of the head but since the manifold was for a b18a it doesnt have the outlet for the plug and we didnt have time to switch out the ecus im going to buy da ecu and see if that works cuz when i turned the car key in the car everything else comes right on lights turnsignal everything and when u try to start it it seems to wanna start but the red light in the ecu does not blink at all doesnt turn on it jus stays off

    found out it was the timing the timing is off on the car so i need to get it adjusted and the crank

    yea i take autotech at school and my teach adjusted it today but it runs now first it wouldnt even start but now the car idles very high i dont kno if its jus cuz the car was warming up or what but it still idles high at like 3k

    i alreadi adjusted to throttle cable but i think i need to tighten it up cuz like even when i adjusted it it still idles at 3k
