    Default Alternator Problems....

    I thought my altenator went out so I took it off got one from a friend who took it off his running KA and when i go to put it on i cranked it up with a battery booster... let it run for 5 minutes...came back took off the battery booster and the car just dies again.....any ideas? what else could be the problem?

    Check the fuse that turns the altenator on and off. It's happened to a couple civic guys on here. I dont know if its typical on your car but it could be the problem.

    Happened to me, I went through 5 batteries and bought a brand new altenator before finding out it was a fuse.

    ^ check the fuse like he mentioned, i wanna say it's a j case (the plastic vertical rectangle) 75 amp fuse and it's black, if memory serves correctly. it's located in the fuse block on the passenger side right behind the battery. check all your connections also, look for corrosion.
