The prices are a completely different story. They are much different cars. And the GTI is more money for a reason. Also VW doesnt have an affiliated division for the GTI like TRD. We have Volkswagen Racing but they do nothing basically.

Its not a losing one. I am not arguing that my year GTI is faster stock. You are comparing a 2004 scion to the bastard child of stock MK4 GTI's.

My car is obviously less expensive than a 04 Scion TC. If I invested the difference in mods, I would rape a TC.

    So here are the scenarios:

Stock 2001.5 GTI 1.8T vs. 2004 Scion TC- Scion tC wins

2001.5 GTI 1.8T vs. TC with 3k in mods- GTI wins

Stock 2004 GTI vs. Stock 2004 Scion TC- GTI wins

2004 GTI with 3k in mods vs. TC with 3k in mods- GTI wins

That is the performance. If you want to talk about doing a scion and adding forced induction compare it to a GTI with a turbo upgrade. A GTI with a bigger turbo such as a GT28 will make 260+whp.

I said Under $20K, which when your car was new wasnt even close to that sticker. The Supercharged TC can be had for around $18-19K...the base model is $15,500 brand new! Thats what i meant as in you couldnt touch it for the price.

The VW is more money because its German, and you are paying for the name brand as well no doubt a heep of options the TC doesnt even offer.

You may think its gay to have a Dealer equiped performance part on your car, but every other Company is doing it, from GM to Dodge to Mazda, toyota etc.....just because VW is denying their customers warrantied aftermarket parts/dealer options isnt an excuse to hate them all together...look at what GM and dodge are doing with theirs.....they are making HUGE POWER!!!

Your car in 2001 brand new wasnt anywhere close to a TC's price so there would be no left over..the TC in 2004 was $15k base....a 2001 GTI in 2004 would have still sold for more then that lol

    So here are the scenarios:

Stock 2001.5 GTI 1.8T vs. 2004 Scion TC- Scion tC wins AGREE

2001.5 GTI 1.8T vs. TC with 3k in mods- GTI wins Partially agree, depends on mods ($2795 JSC speed turbo kit with an 18g makes just over 270-280whp @12psi...with tuning and an aftermarket exhaust (yes thats with stock catback) its easily in the 300's)

Stock 2004 GTI vs. Stock 2004 Scion TC- GTI wins WRONG how can you say that when i had already proved this wrong in my last post....the TC is stock with a Supercharger if so equiped.....its faster then a 04 in everyway???

2004 GTI with 3k in mods vs. TC with 3k in mods- GTI wins Partially agree.....but i still say the TC would be close to if not just as fast as the 04

either way my point has been proven.....i'm really not tryin to turn this debate into an arguement and or a magazine ricer war lol. Either the VW or the Scion are both nice cars and deserve their props for what they bring to the table

First I am comparing the used price of my car to that of a scion. Moving on.......

Your original claims were all about the power of the REGULAR NA TC. Now all of the sudden its all about the supercharged? You posted the numbers of a REGULAR TC I posted the numbers of a REGULAR GTI 1.8T. And the GTI won. So how are you saying you disproved my statement? You posted a 7.something 0-60 and I posted a 6.5 0-60.

Thats not a fair comparison as the 1.8T is the base motor in the GTI as the NA motor is the base in the scion. Then maybe we can compare it to the nicest scion, the supercharged version, to the nicest GTI, the R32.

Also modding is all relative ya know. It just depends hard to tell what would win because different people do different things. So we will throw that out of the argument.
