    Default sr20det engine management

I just want to weigh my options and get a few opinions from fellow nissan freaks like myself. Hybrid Dynamics can ship my stock ECU and tune, but I was kinda thinking of stand alone or piggyback. Anyone used megasquirt successfully on a nissan? AEM stand alone is out of the question, I don't have that deep of pockets.

I use an e-manage with my sr20det. It isn't too bad. Dan at Batlground can chip you're ECU as well. That is what I plan on doing here soon, and ditching the e-manage.

yeah, I'm in WV so hybrid dynamics in pennsylvania is closest nissan tuner to me. Is your emanage greddy? I think I'll probably just end up chipping my ECU, seems easier with less hassle.

Yea, e-manage is greddy. What about an afc?

haha, it's getting there. I have to decide on injectors and fuel rail, do all my oil line plumbing and then finish the FMIC piping and fab up a new downpipe, but yeah, it's fairly built. My plan was to use a VAFC II on top of whatever else I settled on, I figured it would go well with my profec boost controller.

Power FC is good and you can find one at a decent price.

Enthalpy does a good ROM tune.

so from the sounds of it, my best bet would be to have hybrid chip my ECU and ROM tune, run an ApexI VAFC II and call it a day. What is everyone's favorite when it comes to fuel rail? My stock one was misplaced somewhere during the melee of it all, so either way I'm gonna need to get something. I'm figuring on about 450-500 rwhp and probably running 740cc injectors. May be a little bit overkill but I've got a nismo adjustable fuel pressure regulator so I can tone it down if needs be. I can't remember the flow rate of a stock rail, should I bump it up?

Black Hat on GA240SX is familiar with the Megasquirt, here's his write up. http://www.ga240sx.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1102

for $400 i can get your stock ecu to do every thing a powerfc does.
the setup comes with software and a usb cable that i wired to your ecu.
so u can tune with a laptop.

forgive me for being skeptical, but is their any garuantee with this? Do you have any proof of what this setup can do? Anyone who is running it successfully on ImportAtlanta?

    um, no you cant.

if ya get the ecu chipped everytime you change something you have to send it back out to get re-chipped(and it wont be any cheaper to have it done a second time). and you'll need a boost controller and you'll need to get the boost controller to work with the tune you got.

if your not trying to make a stupid amount of power, anything under 300whp, a piggy back will work fine. just remember your a piggy back means a fuel computer and a boost controller, might be hard to get everything working on your own.

pfc is a great stand alone, but the interface is a bit tedious. if you get a wide band you can tune the pfc yourself and get it close to perfect.
aem standalone is supposed to be pretty good and uses a laptop to tune as opposed to the pfcs gameboy controller. it comes with a wide band but you'll wanna get a better one. thing thats supposed to make it better than the pfc is you make a base map and if you add more boost it automatically adds more fuel or something to that effect.

i wouldnt use enthalpy, turn around is too long and you have a 50/50 shot he gets it right on the first time. jim wolf is a little bit cheaper and quite a bit more reliable.

thats all i got. i'll be using a pfc on my next build, so take what you will from that.

hmmmm, I'm shooting for just shy of 500 on a..... nevermind, not stock bottom end

on to another note, I have a VAFC II on the way, bought it without doing my research and boy have I found out I bought something I don't need. Although I think I can make it work to control air fuel anyways, I definately don't have Vtak so won't be able to take advantage of any of those controls, HAHA. What an idiot I am.

i am not the guy from tophat, i do/have not worked for tophat, if you talk to the guys at tophat they will call bs too (and tell scott i'll give em $40 for the lower control arms). we are talkin about an ecu for a rwd det, where did the fwd de block come from? the simple fact is the stock ecu will not do what a pfc can.

as always im with halfbaked, i think we'd all like a little more info on the fwd 502hp setup.

dude who started thread, vtak controller... nice. the det block will take 500whp, i think its actually up to 640whp on pump gas and 720whp on an exotic fuel cocktail. doesnt mean its a good idea.

could you email me a more detailed description of what you would be doing to the ECU so I can run it by my boys at Hybriddynamics?

all these options sound great, but I'm in WV so having any of you guys help with the install and tuning isn't really an option. I don't know if I trust myself enough to tune it on the street and the closest dyno is in pennsylvania at hybridynamics that do something similar to this, so I might as well just take it to them.

VAFC is to control air/fuel and vtec engagement. SAFC just does the air/ fuel adjustments. If you did buy it you got something that is made for hondas. Anyway if your not looking for over 300 then a SAFC 2 is probabally what you'd want.

I've got a Apexi Power Fc and I love it. plugged right in and its like having 8 gauges in one. Not to mention it can do whatever I throw at it.
