Timing Belt!!!!!!
Thinkin about doin my timing belt/ water pump myself on my B18b1. I have all of the manuals and a fair amount of mechanical skill. I just wanted to know if you all think that it might be too hard for me to do by myself (i have never done anything like this before.) Just let me know what you think.
If you have never tried, it will take you longer than normal, just make sure all is in time n slack to the back.

x2^^^ nothing hard and before u start make sure u have alllllll i mean allllllllll the tools u will need.
it sucks starting a job then runing into something and not having the right tools
pay someone the first time to help you out to know the in's and out's of it.
make sure you have a timing gun, or your car is not going to run right. and if you think you can do all that in 1hr. give yourself 3 hours. it's hard the first time, but once you do it, it will be easy.
Why would he need a timing gun for a timing belt job???? He doesnt have to remove the distributor or even touch ignition timing.
Before doing any honda timing belt please buy the crank holding tool or have a helluva impact or you'll never get the bolt off. You can use a chain wrench also but they chew the pulley up or twist the rubber part of the harmonic balancer.
if you use a chain wrench , wrap the pulley with a towel or thick shirt , to prevent it from gettin messed up , if you can get your hands on a good and i mean good impact gun , you should be ok , it isnt really a bad job , as long a you follow the book you'll be ok , and if you come across any problems you always have us!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am also thinking about putting a new head on (which i know is a job-and-a-half) but if you all wanna help me out with all of it we can just make a party out of it. LOL

I'm not looking to do it right away. I am moving next weekend so it might be like 2 weeks before i start this project.

well if your going to swap the head the best time is while doing a belt considering the t-belt is the more time consuming part

nope. worst part of the head ordeal is removing the intake manifold.
all you need is something to hold the crank pulley. as a matter of fact, where are you? i had to make one for a d17 we turboed. i bet it'd fit. all you need is a big monkey wrench and a breaker bar on a 1/2" drive with like a 17 socket i think. if you're close enough, ill give you the tool. then just replace the water pump, bring #1 cylinder to TDC. remove all the spark plugs to make that easier. put a long screwdiver down the plug hole to make sure you're on TDC. run through the BDC to TDC a few times to make absolutely sure you're on TDC, youwil see thescrewdriver stop moving when you hit TDC. then spin the cam around to compression on #1. removing the valvecoverwillmakethat alot easier to tell. then just replace the belt and make sure the tension is toward the rear of the motor. tighten the tensioner pulley and replacethe valve cover.make sure you have all the grounds attached and you're on your way. it'll probably take you like 4 hours. good luck if you attempt it and don't bother paying someone else to make sure you're ok. just be sure yourselfnothing extremely hard about it. just a little tediousness.
