With my 7, I'm planning to change the oil every 2,000 miles.
Change every 4K miles or sooner. Oil is cheap.
Not on a Rotary. You should do it every 2500-3000. Even with Synthetic you want to be on top of the oil changes with these motors.Originally Posted by David88vert

Never use synthetic in a rotary. Synthetic does not burn clean. You do not really want to inject synthetic into the combustion chamber.

I have spent a lot of time and money investigating oil and motors - and mainly on rotarys. I also am one of the few people that has not blown up numerous 13Bs. Now if you have the oil injection system blocked off, and are running pre-mix only, then synthetic is ok, but I still wouldn't waste the cash on it.
It definately does not hurt to change the oil very often, but your driving style and how hot you get the oil makes a difference. Most street driving is fine at 4K and under. Of course, if you are racing or doing track days, you should have fresh oil before you start, and change again after finishing a race/track day.

yea,it says 5k for normal driving or 3k for extreme driving...i just changed it with 3,600 today,put valoline in it
I guess I will be saving some money than wasting it on synthetic oil.
I have heard that Royal Purple is a good rotary oil, but maybe it's only on racing applications with a pre-mix.
I've been using Mobil1 for years. Also have the oil metering system removed.

Just to toss it out there, if you don't change the oil filter out every 5,000 miles or whatever you want to gauge it, it's not going to kill anything. But it's not recommended hehe

You are talking about running premix. It works, burns cleaner, but is a PITA to keep up with. You basically have to carry your oil around with you, and add it everytime you fill up. Great for a racecar, not really fun for a DD.

Hey, I am a mobil1 junkie but not in Rotories, bad ideas, even with oil metering removed. David88vert hit the nail on the head with the link he posted. I use Valvoline VR1 and change every 1500 miles, not a daily driver though so if you DD then a little longer is ok too. I have not bought into the whole idea of premix yet, it tends to wear out plugs too quick for me, and at $15-$20 a plug, thats too much maint. for me and I cant seem to see the effects. And BTW never run premix with emissions car, the cats will hate you for it and raise your EGT's to a very high number and melt the cats down.....Seen it happen. Thanks and God bless
